Woman Vs Food in Talkeetna, AK

Stubbs, an 18 year old ginger cat was elected the Mayor of Talkeetna back when he was a kitten. I thought that was just about the coolest thing I have ever heard. Apparently when Sarah Palin was the mayor of the neighboring town of Wasilla, her and Stubbs used to rub shoulders at mayoral events.

Talkeetna is a cultural appropriate town & lawless. But, is definitely an Alaskan Crush. ❤️

There are many reasons to visit Talkeetna, AK. But, if anything it’s to visit the Roadhouse for the Blueberry Sourdough Pancakes & the restaurant manager Michelle. We arrived hungry & when we walked into the Roadhouse (which was booked for a private party) we met Michelle who was going out to enjoy a long cigarette.

As she met us at the door she squeezed my face & said, “ you are absolutely stunning, where are you from?” In her bossy northern NY accent. She led us across the street to the Mountain High Pizza Pie where I had the reindeer (moose) pizza & a local cider.

It was there we scooted over in community seating for this amazing family, who were so excited to tell us safe trespassing travel spots to add to our way out. They were so appreciative of our southern hospitality for scooting over to allow them to all sit that they really just added us into their family. They also said it sounded as if I should move to AK. 🙂 #affirmation

We returned that morning for the Roadhouse & oddly we looked at the wall behind Brooke to see she was sitting in the same exact seat as Adam Richman in Man vs Food.

Loudly behind me coming to serve us breakfast in her bossy Northern Accent “Oh my goodness that beautiful hair! WTF are you still doing in this town!?” As she sat to brief us her story of migrating to owning the best restaurant in AK she also gave us some excellent motivation for life. In my previous cases, a southerner never trusts a skinny chef. But, Michelle proved that wrong in all cases to be false.

Lodging:

We stayed at the Talkeetna Lake house & released our next decade goals & affirmations over the lake. Much like a New Years Resolution but written decrees as we both close our last 3 months of this decade.
